Winter has well and truly set in! Winter conditions affected City infrastructure, with the CID reporting overflowing sewage drains, potholes, faulty lights, and other hazards 24×7. We uplifted just short of a ton of rubbish, much of it washed out into the beaches by the winter tides.
Our Law Enforcement Officers issued 523 fines for various bylaw offences, and our public safety programme recorded 445 engagements with the street-based community. Our officers responded to 501 alerts from the control room.
Unfortunately, we recorded 3 incidents of property related crimes this month – two burglaries and a theft of a motor vehicle. Suspects in each instance have been identified and relevant information shared with the SAPS Investigating Officers.
We urge visitors, residents, and property owners to stay vigilant and make sure that house and car doors and windows are closed, that alarms and cameras are regularly checked and activated and items are not left visible in vehicles parked in the public spaces.
