11 February 2025

January flew by for the CID team and visitors from all over came to enjoy the beaches throughout the month. We’re proud to report a 77% year on year drop in crime for the month – and would like to acknowledge the hard work and commitment of our public safety, surveillance, and law enforcement team in ensuring that the beaches and public spaces were safe for all.

People bring litter and don’t always take it home with them, so the CID cleaning team removed close to 1.6 tons of litter and rubbish from the public open spaces.

People also don’t always respect the bylaws, resulting in 231 fines being issued by the CID law enforcement officers in January 2025. 812 units of alcohol were taken as abandoned by the CID team, contributing to less anti-social behaviour in the public spaces.

We reported 18 infrastructure faults to the City, including water and sewage leaks, and worked with the Ward Councillor to ensure these were fixed as soon as possible.

We’re thrilled that so many of you are supportive of the proposed boundary expansion. We’re currently communicating with property owners in the expanded area to obtain their consent. Please help us if you can – if you have friends, family or colleagues who own property in the proposed expansion area, please talk to them about the benefits of being part of the CID. All relevant information can be found here.

Have a happy February!
