Ahhh, December… the month of end of year celebrations, gatherings of family and friends, trips to the beach, festive get togethers and a chance to recharge. Not so for the Clifton CID team, who were on duty 24x7x365, doing everything we could to keep Clifton safe and clean and helping to ensure that visitors and residents enjoyed the season safely and happily.
We’re very grateful to our partners in Law Enforcement, Metro Police, Traffic and SAPS for their presence in Clifton during December and their impact in terms of enforcing bylaws, preventing crime, and taking the public safety lead, with our teams in support.
The efforts of everyone working together resulted in 1 606 units of alcohol being prevented from being consumed (compared with 953 units in December 2024), 4 lost children reunited with their care givers, almost 2 tons of rubbish being removed from the public spaces, no housebreakings or burglaries and no contact crimes (muggings, assaults) being recorded. With crowds sadly comes petty crime, with 2 arrests being made and items recovered in other incidents. CID funded Law Enforcement Officers and Public Safety Officers attended to close to 900 bylaw violations, with 483 fines being issued for a range of violations.
The CID team experienced this season as being calmer than past years and have received the same feedback from many residents. We’re optimistic that our continuous efforts, along with those of the enforcement agencies, will continue to show impact in the months to come.
Wishing you a peaceful and kind 2026!
December by the numbers:
